TREATMENT OF CONCRETE SURFACES OF A NEWLY BUILT MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK IN BONN

A multi-storey car park concrete surfaces were treated with Controll® Innerseal. and Controll® Topseal . The treated surface of concrete surfaces (C30/37 XC4; XD1; XF1; XA1, XM1; XM2/WA) amounted to approximately 9.000 m2.

The concrete floor of a multi-storey car park is harmed, strongly without appropriate protection by thaw with de-icing salt (NaCl) over the years. Corrosion damage indexed to chloride will occur in the entire concrete floor and if the occasion arises also in the lower areas of the wall. The concrete has been treated directly (24 hours) after its processing times with Controll® Innerseal. and could be classified as hydrophilic.

Altogether the concrete was treated five times with Controll® Innerseal. and by the subsequent treatment with Controll® Topseal  permanently waterproof and protected against future exposure to de-icing salts, etc. An active protection against chlorine entry was created thus with equal to contemporary, long-lasting protection for the steel reinforcement. The consumption of Controll® Innerseal. total amounted to approximately
0,6 l/m2. After approximately 4 weeks, the surfaces were cleaned and sealed with Controll® Topseal . Here the consumption amounted to approximately 0.2 l / m2.

Controll® Innerseal and Controll® Topseal are non-toxic and therefore not distinguishing mark according to the hazardous substances regulation. They are colourless, odourless, solvent-free, non-flammable and bio-degradable. Leave no film coating, but a transparent, clear and natural interface.

Controll® Innerseal makes concretes resistant to chemical attack and impervious to water against both, positive and negative hydrostatic pressure, and is an active a deeply urgent corrosion protection of reinforcement steel in concrete (Deep penetration > 195 mm). Also, any harmful salts in the mineral building material cast out during the crystallization and curing process.

Controll® Topseal includes water-soluble potassium Methylsilanetriolate with organic catalyst, which a deep penetrating allows up to 6 cm. It forms a strong water and dirt repellent surface, which is very easy to clean. The surface treated with Controll® Topseal is still protected against efflorescence, environmental factors (air pollution) and UV rays. The chemical resistance is increased.
