General Information
TREATMENT OF FERMENTATION REST DEPOT, STEEL CONCRETE TANKS, PART OF A BIOGAS PLANT.
In the fermentation rest depot, a concrete treatment was carried out with Controll® Innerseal. The treated area of the inner wall of the place concrete walls (C35/45, XC4, XF3) amounted to approximately 512 m2.
The place concrete wall must be protected of the chemical attack by biogenous sulphuric acid and must be impregnated against improper leaks and surface sealing to avoid (valuable) gas outlets. The reinforcing steel must also be protected against corrosion.
Place concrete walls ( approx. 4 week old) were cleaned with high pressure water and then treated a total of 8 times in the interval from 30-45 minutes with Controll® Innerseal on the inside of the place concrete circular tank ( with a low pressure spraying system). The consumption amounted to an average of 0.8 l / m2. The concrete had a glossy surface after treatment with Controll® Innerseal.
Special attention was given to maintaining the should and order speed. The impregnation time required for the applications with Controll® Innerseal was 4 x 30 minutes at the 1st day and 4 x 60 minutes at the 2nd day ( including waiting times).
Treatment with Controll® Innerseal is solvent and aroma free, which excludes any permanently damage to the important bacteria culture system. The thermal conductivity (DIN EN 12667) of the concrete wall is reduced in addition this procedure by 24 % (See certificate MPA Dortmund), what an average temperature difference of approximately > 6,2 ° C up to 10 ° C, dry, is equivalent. (Advantage for the operator: lower primary energy costs for the basic need for heat; lower exterior insulation necessary).
The place concrete circular tank was equipped with a 10-year-old product and functions warranty of Controll® Innerseal on the part of the manufacturer’s, that represents a high additional safety, in addition to the VOB/BGB of the trades for the user.
In comparison to conventional methods such as mineral or epoxy coating or bolts of PP films, the benefit of the impregnation with Controll® Innerseal is in the low cost and short application and waiting time.
In addition, no elaborate preparation of concrete is necessary and Controll® Innerseal can be applied to damp surfaces. By the high penetration inside of the material may be not damaged thus by external influences. The best effect is achieved when the application of Controll® Innerseal is directly after the shuttering of the discharge, but also young concrete, precast concrete elements and even attacked old concrete can be protected and sealed.
